Description
PLC and motion control on a single platform
The FL8 smart controller is a mid-range PLC developed on the CODESYS platform. It features an IEC 61131-3 architecture, a built-in high-speed EtherCAT motion control bus, built-in Ethernet and serial port; supporting OPC UA and Modbus protocols, it connects directly to the higher-level control system and enables optimization of the system as a whole.

Distributed system architecture
By supporting the high-speed EtherCAT motion control bus, FL8 performs precise motion control on complex machines. The built-in CANopen field bus makes it easy to connect to slave devices in the field. The built-in Ethernet and serial ports support Modbus protocols; by establishing a connection with the higher-level control system, they enable optimization of the system as a whole.
Expansion
Up to 31 I/O modules can be attached on the right side. An expansion card is supported on the left side (4G Cat1 / wireless WiFi, console port). The FR-ECAT EtherCAT bus coupler is used for remote I/O. The FL7 and FL8 series use the same I/O modules.
